With multiple vendors dominating areas from licensing to payments, agencies must create a cohesive, unified ecosystem that enhances workflows and improves public service.
Kris Trujillo, while working in the government software industry, witnessed firsthand the fragmented nature of these systems, sparking his interest in creating his own solution: Velosimo, an iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service). Velosimo offers cloud integration services for state and local government agencies, helping them digitally enable superior public services for the communities they serve.![]()
The goal of offering government agency staff a true no-code experience is to eliminate their reliance on a technical developer. Now, with our platform, clients can use a business technologist or business analyst, roles they already have
“Our intuitive, low-code, no-code integration connectors are revolutionizing the way government systems interact with their users. These connectors are designed to create seamless and efficient experiences for both staff and citizens,” says Trujillo, founder and CEO of Velosimo.
The platform’s solutions enable flawless internal system usage, offering powerful features like connector management, detailed analytics, and automatic transaction recovery.
The company has built strong partnerships with Accela, Cityworks, Laserfiche, Bluebeam, DocuSign, Elavon, and OpenGov allowing these companies to integrate Velosimo’s solutions directly into their offerings. When responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from government entities, these partners can include Velosimo’s connectors, significantly enhancing their proposals. This seamless collaboration strengthens their joint offerings and ensures mutual success, benefiting both parties through increased solution robustness and shared revenue growth.
For example, with DocuSign, Velosimo’s technology provides a workflow that effortlessly integrates permitting & licensing systems with e-signature processes. It handles all API calls transparently, so agencies no longer need to worry about defining requirements or use cases—they are already built into the Velosimo connector. The company covers a wide range of connectors, ensuring agencies have access to e-signature connectors, payment connectors, document storage connectors, and many others. This allows agencies to start small, perhaps with just one connector, and then scale up as they address additional integration needs.
Velosimo develops these connectors in close collaboration with government agencies, ensuring they encapsulate all necessary use cases and the integrations are standardized and reliable.
Purpose-Built Integration Solution for Government Agencies
Typically, business analysts—who focus more on the business side but still understand user needs—are the first to receive reports of issues, such as a licensing application not reaching DocuSign for e-signature. With Velosimo, they can log in, identify the problem—such as a failed transaction or an API error—and even retry transactions without deep technical knowledge. Its user-friendly interface presents this information clearly, making troubleshooting accessible to non-IT staff.
“The goal of offering government agency staff a true no-code experience is to eliminate their reliance on a technical developer. Now, with our platform, clients can use a business technologist or business analyst, roles they already have,” says Trujillo.
"Our intuitive, low-code, no-code integration connectors are revolutionizing the way government systems interact with their users. These connectors are designed to create seamless and efficient experiences for both staff and residents"
Since these analysts are already familiar with platforms like Cityworks, they can now use Velosimo to easily perform data mapping, connecting contacts and their emails to DocuSign envelopes in a no-code interface.
Another standout benefit of Velosimo is its ability to dramatically reduce the time required to implement integrations. Recently, the city of Dallas, Texas—one of the five largest agencies in the country by population—approached Velosimo. They needed integrations with various systems, and by using the no-code interface, they were able to set up and deploy these integrations rapidly.
Typically, agencies like Dallas face a timeline of one to two years to go live with an integration connector using traditional methods. However, with Velosimo’s platform, they managed to accomplish this within one to two months. The ROI is significantly faster as they bypass the need for extensive development time and can deploy much more quickly. These integrations also come with new features and updates, and if an issue arises, the team is available to resolve it, ensuring seamless operation.
In addition to these benefits, the company guarantees long-term success in running these integrations. Another exciting aspect of the platform is its flexibility with government software. There is a significant shift from on-premise systems to the cloud, and Velosimo’s integration connectors work with many providers, whether they offer on-premise or cloud solutions. This allows agencies to transition from on-premise to cloud deployment simply by reconfiguring their integration connector through Velosimo.
Many agencies are transitioning from on-premise to cloud systems. For example, Laserfiche, a document storage solution used by many government agencies for over 15 years, is moving to a cloud offering. The transition is as simple as re-authenticating the system, making the move from on-premise to cloud effortless.
In 2023, Fort Worth, TX, had a significant deployment of Accela as their building permitting platform and required integration with 15 different systems. They approached Velosimo, which already had seven of these integration connectors developed on its platform. In the end, the client is leveraging these pre-built connectors to extend their successful implementation of Accela. For the remaining integrations, the company has been collaborating closely with Fort Worth, allowing it to develop new productized integration connectors for the entire market.
“Seamless integration is a key element to our success. Whereas iPaaS for Accela with Velosimo emerged as an easy, proven way to connect the City’s diverse systems and pave the way for an efficient, user-centric experience.” – Ken Frame, MBA, CCC, CSSBB, Business Process Manager, City of Fort Worth, TX.
This success story highlights Velosimo’s ability to deliver tangible results, offering a centralized integration solution that simplifies complex IT landscapes for government agencies.
Holistic Approach to Cybersecurity and Compliance
The cybersecurity threat landscape has significantly evolved over the past few years, and Velosimo’s approach to defense is comprehensive. The company is focused on achieving full SOC 2 compliance in the coming months, with audits already underway. Its entire infrastructure is hosted on AWS, and it has partnered with a company called Calin to build a sophisticated cloud architecture. Today, Velosimo leverages a suite of cybersecurity tools to monitor its environment, including Vanta, which helps simplify and centralize security for organizations. These tools enable thorough security assessments and continuous monitoring across all integration connectors, ensuring every aspect of the platform is secure.
It has also obtained PCI compliance since it handles payments as part of its services. Moreover, Velosimo emphasizes the human element of cybersecurity. Every quarter, all employees and contractors undergo mandatory training using KnowBe4, a leading platform for security awareness training. The company also conducts regular email phishing simulations to ensure the team remains vigilant against social engineering threats.
The Journey Forward
Over the next 12 to 18 months, Velosimo is poised for significant growth and transformation. The company is focused on expanding its partnerships with more government software providers. Meanwhile, it aims to grow its portfolio of integration connectors, enhancing its product offerings to meet the evolving needs of government clients. With an eye on innovation, Velosimo is exploring AI’s potential to further enhance its platform. However, its immediate focus remains on delivering scalable, efficient, and user-friendly integration solutions that empower government agencies to modernize and thrive in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
