The governments must apply for physical protection to protect the massive amount of sensitive data from cybercriminals.
FREMONT, CA: In a world where data is critical, getting into the wrong hands can become highly destructive. Every company must invest in protecting their data and applying it to the government sector.
Therefore, protecting the highly confidential, sensitive information that the government holds about the citizens’ financial information on business or personal records is essential. Governments have also started to invest in cybersecurity to protect national and international secrets. The role which physical security plays in protecting the systems against data theft is also essential, and the government must not underestimate it.
An organization can be vulnerable to data theft even if it invests enormous amounts of money in an efficient security solution to prevent the criminals from getting access to the data. Suppose an intruder can access one of the organization’s sites. In that case, they can download confidential information into a flash drive or steal devices like a tablet or smartphone. The effectiveness of cybersecurity can reduce considerably without a robust physical infrastructure in place. Many companies have lost numerous customer data in the last few years, or their devices were stolen.
Many organizations like hotels, shops, or offices secure the premises by utilizing CCTV, alarm systems, and access control solutions that need skill and experience, but it is a straightforward undertaking. For a government responsible for the numerous high-profile buildings utilized for a wide range of purposes by citizens n employees, it becomes more challenging to protect the data. In an economic environment where the budgets are tight, the governments have to do more with less, due to which it becomes difficult for them to invest in brand new security infrastructure, which is immensely necessary.
It can become complicated for the government to ensure that only authorized personnel are getting access to the sensitive data without a proper security system because a massive number of employees are on the government payroll operating across various sites. The physical security solutions combined with the video can prevent people from getting access to certain areas or logging into a computer as it will get captured in the video footage.
