Federal agencies must include security tools to fight against cybercrime.
FREMONT, CA: Emerging technological innovations have given ample scope to hackers and cybercriminals to keep evolving with digital trends. Hacking into an individual system is always an accessible route for hackers, but government database also falls prey to cyber criminals. Research shows that federal agencies are the easiest target because of their limited cyber security features. Crucial information is often compromised through government databases due to the absence of a robust cybersecurity solution.
Government organizations often ignore the maintenance of security software as per the recent updates, which give an invitation to the vulnerabilities. Cybercriminals are well aware of this fact and take advantage of the situation. Implementing strong and updated security software has become the utmost requirement for federal agencies. Educating government employees about security features, updates, and maintenance can significantly help resolve the issue. Employees must have information about changing passwords, installing software updates, changing non-compatible hardware, and restricting themselves from opening unknown emails to curb phishing attacks.
Cybersecurity solutions are implemented irrespective of the organization's size because cyber attackers do not bother about the strength of any organization. The question is how well law can monitor enhanced security procedures in the future. Information security should be assertive, especially when adequate precautions might save millions of dollars. Continuous violations and strong condemnation are transforming.
Why does the government struggle with cyber security?
Several government agencies lack efficient and effective security tools, making them inefficient in detecting threats. Many agencies remain unprepared for such vulnerabilities, and few organizations feel it is an unnecessary expenditure. Analyst says that there are plenty of reasons like budgeting, lack of knowledgeable employees, and continuously evolving technologies that confuse government staff in making decisions. Resolving these problems will help governments implement cybersecurity measures efficiently.
Government agencies must continue to develop new ways to stay up with evolving technology while supporting and educating talented employees who can deliver acceptable cyber security services. Because commercial and financial services businesses are vulnerable to cyber intrusions and attacks, public-private partnerships with cyber security professional groups are essential.
