Healthcare providers use cloud-based imaging platforms to examine and share medical images anywhere and anytime securely. New technological advancements in radiology will have more focus on patient interaction and patient-centered care.
New Techniques in Radiology
Wireless Transducer, Noiseless MRI, 640-Slice CT scanner, Peri-Operative MRI and OLED Displays are the new products transforming the field of radiology. Others include more cost-effective radiology solutions and radiation monitoring solutions and so on.
Impact of Cloud on Radiology
The knowledge, costing and integration of cloud allows end-users to use expensive software and hardware stored remotely over cloud-based systems. The cloud-based system hosts a software platform for Radiological Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
The Imaging Tests
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and CT (Computed Tomography) and ultrasound for diagnostics have become a safer way. The CT scans have reduced the negative appendectomy rate as well as the number of unnecessary admissions for observation, saving many patients by eliminating the trauma of surgery. The doctors now perform invasive operations at decreasing rates.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is one of the most affordable imaging procedures. Mobile machines which are easily accessible can also detect breast cancer and treat certain types of cancer such as liver, kidney, prostate pancreatic and bladder.
Digital Mammography
It can be uploaded and shared immediately for speedier diagnostic results and has proved to be effective. The digital mammograms accurately detect breast cancer in women under 50. It also recognizes in women with dense breast tissue, premenopausal women and women who are around the age of menopause.
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scans
On combining PET scans with CT scans, cancer can be detected much earlier along with a clear image providing more information than the traditional scan. This scan can also identify the spread of cancer in the body and also monitors chemotherapy.
CT Angiography
The new advances in CT angiography have made the process faster, safer and less expensive for the patients. The CT angiography is used for the arteries in the lungs, kidneys, arms, and legs. It performs tasks in just 10-25 minutes.
