Advanced security measures like the OVD are being used in the authentication of travel documents to ensure safe and secure transactions.
FREMONT, CA: Optical Variable Device (OVD) is utilized in forms of prints or embossing to stop counterfeiting of money, relevant government documents, credit cards, and identification cards. It ensures the safety of day-to-day transactions by preventing theft and various other criminal activities.
A global provider of identity verification solutions, Acuant upgraded its product AssureID by teaming up with the OVD provider Kinegram of Zug, Switzerland. Acuant aims to incorporate the Kinegram Optical Machine Authentication (OMA) into its flagship document authentication services.
The provision of different patterns, colors, and designs are the epitome of sophistication, which the Kinegram is offering for integration. These OVDs will be utilized to protect the government documents from counterfeiting or manipulation of data and is conventionally designed for the visual inspection by a human.
“Acuant is proud and excited to not only innovate internally but to partner with leading companies that share our vision when it comes to identity proofing. Our latest partnership with OVD Kinegram AG is such an example which expands our AssureID offering by integrating their OMA technology, which significantly raises the security level in the optical authentication check routines of the latest generation of travel documents containing a KINEGRAM,” said Acuant President and CEO, Yossi Zekri.
New and innovative technological approach for optical authentication check routine of travel documents, to the design of the Kinegram, has included a copy-resistant security feature, such as specific metalized patterns along with visible and UV prints. It can also be machine-authenticated using existing document readers.
Inspection processes like automatic document verification and machine-assisted manual method are proven to be more reliable. It allows the document readers to inspect sophisticated security features like the products of Kinegram. With only limited features of the security released, the partnership believes in contributing to the domain of security measures and optical identification devices with its fullest.
By taking note from the proverb—when in Rome, be a Roman—it is vital for users to be updated in security measures, especially while living in the digital age, where documents are e-signed with a press of a button.
