Innovations and developments of new technologies from aerospace and defense are used in the commercial market as products and new capabilities for big data and IoT (Internet of Things). Following are some of the new technology developments that are used by governments of the countries:
Real-time data cleaning: The process of cleaning big data is changed by IoT and ETL (extract, transform, and load). As an example, machine and deep learning algorithms powered drones in military operations determine which pieces of data are critical to a mission and which are not. These drones assess incoming data and discard irrelevant data during the in-flight and real-time data collection process. It helps data payloads to shrink automatically.

Hardened sensors: Governments of countries are following the process of hardening its sensors, networks, and systems against cyber attacks. The sensors can withstand extreme heat, cold, high radiation levels and more adverse environmental conditions found in space. These hardened software sensors are more reliable than IoT sensors in space and elsewhere.

Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI): Self-healing drone is used by commercial contractors and defense sector, can execute its own machine learning and AI as it flies a mission. These technologies drive the drones to detect if any member fails and then communicate with other drones to regroup and continue the mission without interruption. This type of drones is used on manufacturing assembly lines with machines interoperating, communicating together, and devising alternate production paths when a single machine fails.
Symbiotic man-machine work processes: It is a designed technology-driven process that teams humans and drones symbiotically on missions to enable an unmanned vehicle fly as a teammate with a manned aircraft. Manned and unmanned teaming can reduce high workload, allow warfighters to focus more on planning, and management. The man-machine symbiosis can work for a logistics provider with a thousand vehicle fleet.
Solar power: NASA is taking advantage of the limitless space solar supply by applying logistics to its vehicle lunar orbits. The plan is to enable an orbiting craft to replenish its fuel supplies by keeping the craft away from the dark side of the moon.
