Security Technology is playing a greater role in ensuring border security through the adoption of sensors, cameras and automations.
FREMONT, CA: A comprehensive approach to border security should reduce security threats entering a country as well as the illicit drug trade. We all agree that specific borders need improved security protocols, but there is disagreement over how that should be handled. With the help of security technology, traditional methods of securing borders can be improved today. Although extensive physical security is essential for protecting our countries, it can be hard to find and train the right personnel. Using state-of-the-art technology can help mitigate any type of border-related security issues by directing traffic toward checkpoints.
Reducing the need for security personnel: In the world of the border and domestic protection, there is already a shortage of staff, and high turnaround is undesirable for a position that requires extensive training. Border patrol agents are steadily declining, so we need an alternative solution to ensure the security of our respective countries. With the advent of automation, sensors and cameras will be able to scan underneath vehicles and instantly check license plates, thereby reducing the need for trained personnel and reducing hiring strain.
Security systems that are adaptable: A quality border security system can be modified to meet the specific needs of each border checkpoint. In the case of a terrorist who is escaping, a border equipped with a vehicle occupant detection system might signal personnel in the event the terrorist steps through the checkpoint. Having the ability to calibrate the security systems on the fly will make for a comprehensive security system. Any border crossing can benefit from modern, intelligent systems since they provide the chance to cover more ground and prevent threats from ever having the chance to cross.
Protecting the citizens: A strong border security system helps protect our citizens from criminals and terrorists. Secure borders protect our citizens from these criminals and keep out terrorists who would harm us.
Growth of the economy is promoted: Economic growth is another benefit of strong border security. Businesses benefit from a secure border by keeping out illegal immigrants who work for lower wages. By doing this, companies are prevented from competing with these workers. Also, it prevents criminals and terrorists from entering the country to commit crimes or carry out attacks. As a result, our economy remains safe and grows.
