THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING
According to Insurance Information Institute—a U.S. industry association working toward improving public understanding of insurance— there are more than three million cases of identity theft currently reported to the US Federal Trade Commission’s Consumer Sentinel Network. They note that the multiple digital footprints across different online platforms are continually opening up newer vulnerabilities for cyber terrorists to capture and exploit people’s personal information. The institute also mentions, as credit and debit cards now feature microchips to prevent counterfeits, the focus of identity theft has shifted to the creation of new bank accounts and filing of fake tax returns. That means criminals are using additional personal information like social security number besides merely the victim’s name. In a tumultuous time like this, restoring the stolen identity is more crucial than ever. Understanding the need of the hour, Norton LifeLock, a contemporary identity protection company and Symantec’s consumer cyber safety brand from Tempe, AZ, cements its cornerstone around restoring people’s stolen identity in the shortest period. Norton LifeLock, offers services encompassing consumer cybersecurity, identity threat detection, proactive identity theft alerts, and comprehensive remediation services.
How It All Began
The journey of LifeLock started in 2005 as an innovator in identity-theft protection for consumers, and the company evolved in tandem with the enhancements of cybercrimes. Picking up the pace of its technological evolution, LifeLock recently collaborated with Symantec, the world’s leading cybersecurity company. Known today as Norton LifeLock, the collaborative effort between Symantec and LifeLock leverages unique data science and patented technology along with the power of Norton Antivirus to provide services encompassing consumer cybersecurity, identity threat detection, proactive identity theft alerts, and comprehensive remediation services.
Norton LifeLock is committed to making a positive impact on society. Whether this involves educating law enforcement personnel on latest identity fraud trends and tactics, or helping close the gender gap for women in technology, Norton LifeLock dedicatedly brings the change that it envisions for a safe and secure future.
A Three-Layered Approach to Identity Protection
At the core, Norton LifeLock’s products help proactively detect identity theft-related incidents, such as new account openings and credit-related applications.
The identity restoration process typically starts with the victim of the incident, signing a limited power of attorney form to Norton LifeLock. The limited power of attorney allows Norton LifeLock’s team to work on the user’s behalf during the identity restoration process. Farther along the process, Norton LifeLock assists the user in filing the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) affidavit of identity theft to set a one or seven-year fraud alert with the credit bureaus, and request credit reports. Once the affidavit is filed, LifeLock sends an insurance claim kit to the user and assists him/her in submitting their claim for LifeLock benefits. Once the claim kit comes back to Norton LifeLock, the company verifies the required documents before sending them to respective merchants. To this extent, if need arises, Norton LifeLock provides lawyers, accountants, or investigators to work on the identity theft victim’s behalf.

Protection for Employee Identities
With the ever-growing digital touchpoints like online shopping, banking, and even browsing, employees are now particularly vulnerable against cybercriminals. As many modern workplaces are now leveraging connected devices to streamline their organizational processes, the employers are not adequately protected all the same against the risk of identity theft. A robust identity protection plan underpins employee satisfaction in an organization as it allows the employees to secure their identity, rather than just insuring them. To remediate the perils of identity theft, Norton LifeLock provisions its identity protection and restoration services to businesses. Leveraging the power of Norton Antivirus, and the Symantec Security Technology and Response (STAR) team, Norton LifeLock’s innovative employee benefit plans help organizations protect its employee’s identity, personal information, and connected devices from the myriad of threats they may face in their digitally connected homes and workplaces. The STAR is one of the largest civilian teams of security experts in the world. It is made up of more than 500 security engineers, malware hunters, threat analysts, and researchers. With nine response centers strategically located around the globe, the STAR team operates 24 hours a day to deliver always-on protection to tens of millions of Norton customers, 365 days a year.
The Journey Ahead
Today with more than 4.4 million clients worldwide, Norton LifeLock has already proven its mettle as the best-in-class identity protection and restoration service provider. In the coming months, Norton LifeLock is committed to continue enhancing its capabilities and build a stronger protection barrier to safeguard its consumers’ personal information and offer them the necessary security amid the menace of identity theft.
