A cybersecurity awareness training program effectively educates government personnel about the current cyber threat landscape, thereby lowering the risk of cyberattacks and establishing a solid security culture inside the organization.
Fremont, CA: Cyberattacks are becoming more frequent, there is a growing demand for online services, and there is an increasing shortage of educated security experts. Despite valiant attempts to prevent cyberattacks and ensure internet services' availability, many state and local governments are losing the war. Hiring extra security personnel is a difficult task, and state and municipal governments are not alone in this scenario. A cyber-security skills shortage is reported by 57 percent of firms throughout the industry, leading to increasing workloads, unfilled jobs, and high burnout rates. However, with low pay scales in the public sector and revenue shortfalls resulting in budget cuts or hiring freezes, it is more difficult than ever to fill available positions.
Government agencies cna invest in cybersecurity awareness training by reskilling and upskilling
Investing in two types of training: Upskilling and reskilling are two of the most efficient strategies to address cyber talent shortages. Upskilling entails putting in place initiatives to improve the security team's knowledge and abilities in order to close gaps. Reskilling, on the other hand, is a method of preparing employees in different fields to join the security team.
Training is far less expensive than recruiting a new employee, and it results in a more productive staff. As new team members take on lower-level tasks, expert cybersecurity team members can focus on more focused and meaningful work, which can lead to higher job satisfaction.
It appears to be a clear choice: invest in cybersecurity training rather than attempting to hire seasoned security experts. Despite this, state and local governments continue to fall behind. State and municipal governments that have not yet launched security training programs can take advantage of a variety of resources, such as online cybersecurity training videos, toolkits, and in-person classes, aimed at assisting them in addressing cybersecurity skill shortages and putting in place effective training programs.
