DECEMBER - 20206GOVERNMENT CIO OUTLOOKEDITORIALTryst with TechnologyThe government sector has always been under the radar for being too slow to adopt the latest technologies in its functions. However, this is changing now. By leveraging a suite of technological tools like data analytics, intelligent process automation, artificial intelligence, virtual intelligence, and other innovations, the public service sector and other related agencies are changing their way of addressing citizen requirements and grievances. The latest technology advancements are increasing efficiency and transparency while streamlining processes, optimizing productivity, and reinventing government transactions. This has improved the citizen's level of trust, satisfaction, and confidence in the government. The application of connected cities and smart cities using IoT and high-speed networks like 5G is driving the creation of innovative solutions and services. With IoT sensors collecting information across cities, it becomes easier for governments to analyze the data and supervise their jurisdictions. Among the myriad of advantages of technology are the improvement of public safety through uninterrupted surveillance, integrated lighting systems, and provisions for water and waste management. In areas that are not easily accessible or require more manpower, public sector agencies are also deploying drones to ensure no breaking of rules, detect national threats, and review critical assets or projects in progress. Governments are moving toward public cloud services to deploy technology faster and bring down the costs further. As vendors combine a mix of technology and expertise to deliver solutions that solve problems and offer support in the future, public sector agencies are in search of a solution that best fits their requirements. Numerous companies are spearheading change by helping government bodies transition from their existing systems to digital platforms seamlessly. We hope the curated list of enterprises in this edition will help you make the right choices for your technology endeavors.
